About SlashRoots
The SlashRoots Foundation is a social impact organisation that designs digital tools and services to transform the relationship between Caribbean governments and their citizens. We work with governments, development organisations, and civil society to improve the design and delivery of social services and development programmes, while helping them be more responsive to the communities they serve.
About this role
Governments and private sector organisations across the Caribbean are aggressively pursuing digital transformation programmes to realise a new “digital society” here in the region. At SlashRoots, our mission is to ensure that this shift to a “digital society” creates a future that is more inclusive, with economic opportunity available to all, and services that meet the needs of the communities and individuals who rely on them—whether rural, urban, poor, middle-class, differently-abled or otherwise.
We are a small, mission-driven organisation with a team that operates primarily in Jamaica, but also includes initaitives that take us to other parts of the Caribbean and Internationally. Over time we have developed various ad-hoc systems and approaches to manage organisational operations. However, we believe we are at a stage where this now requires greater structure and oversight, particularly as it relates to how we support our team.
It is for this reason that we are seeking an experienced and creative problem-solver to lead our organisation through its next stage of development. Our ideal candidate has experience working with nonprofits or early-stage organisations and helping them grow. The Operations Manager will lead the review, assessment and improvement of people development, employee benefits, and financial management.
This is a full-time staff position based in Kingston. The successful candidate will work closely with SlashRoots’ Principal and Accountant. If the above resonates with you, and you’re interested in being a part of a team working to shape the societal transformation that digital can enable in Jamaica and the broader Caribbean, we welcome you to apply. Take a look at our 2024 Year Ahead publication to learn more about what we aim to accomplish this year.
